Maria Nilsen, 38, killed, after her SUV leaves the westbound I-94 roadway between Billings and Huntley and overturns, ejecting her from the vehicle.
Driver killed in rollover crash on I-94.
First responders were unable to resuscitate the victim of a rollover crash on Interstate 94 between Billings and Huntley Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m.
A Help Flight helicopter was dispatched to the scene, but was waved off when officials determined that the victim had died, said a Montana Highway Patrol Trooper.
The 38-year-old female driver from Ballantine, headed westbound toward Billings at the time of the incident, was the only person in the vehicle.
Losing control, the SUV fishtailed. The woman tried to correct, but as the vehicle left the north-side roadway, the driver's side wheels dug into the soil and rolled the vehicle, Hayter said.
The victim was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from her vehicle, he said.
Speed does not seem to be a factor, and it is unclear whether alcohol played a role in the crash, Hayter said.
