Terry Sullivan, 56, killed, as well as Jamison and Kathryne Pals, and their children Ezra, Violet, and Calvin, killed, and several injured in crash involving semi truck on Interstate 80 near Brule, Nebraska

The pileup began when a semitrailer truck struck the back of a van in the westbound lanes of the Interstate. Collins says at least two other vehicles were involved, and one of the vehicles caught fire.

The driver was arrested for suspicion of vehicular homicide. Court records don’t show whether he’s been formally charged. He was treated at a hospital in Julesburg, Colorado.

A Minneapolis couple and their three young children died in a car crash in Nebraska on their way to a final round of training before moving to Japan to work as Christian missionaries.

The Jefferson County Colorado Coroner’s Office has notified the Nebraska State Patrol that the legal death of Terry Sullivan, 56, Denver, occurred on August 1, at 1:02 p.m.(MDT). He remains on life support to facilitate donation of organs. 

Weekly appeared in court Tuesday on five counts of felony motor vehicle homicide and one count of reckless driving, according to Keith County Court’s Office. 

The services are taking place at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis. The visitation began at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral at 11:30 a.m.

An arrest affidavit filed before Weekly’s first court appearance Aug. 2 said Weekly “was inattentive and distracted by outside influences” as he entered a 9-mile-long I-80 work zone. Traffic in that area was bumper-to-bumper, single lane in each direction. 

The North Platte Telegraph reports that 53-year-old Tony Weekly Jr. on Friday also pleaded not guilty in Keith County District Court to one count of reckless driving. His next hearing is scheduled for Jan. 20.
