James W. Baumann, 24, killed, after his pickup strikes an embankment at the intersection of County Roads 14 and S near Fremont.

A Fremont man was found dead as the result of a traffic accident Monday morning.

Dodge County Sheriff Steve Hespen said James W. Baumann, 24, of Fremont, was pronounced dead on the scene after an area farmer spotted Baumann’s wrecked 2000 Chevy S-10 pickup at County Roads 14 and S shortly after 7 a.m.

Baumann had been travelling north on County Road 14 when he went through the T intersection at County Road S and struck an embankment.

Hespen said the accident is believed to have occurred sometime during the early morning hours on Monday.

Baumann was not wearing a seatbelt and there were no passengers in the vehicle.

The investigation is continuing.
