Police said a pedestrian was crossing Sahara Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a sport-utility vehicle Sunday night.
The collision occurred on West Sahara at 5:48 p.m. when a Ford Escape that was heading eastbound on Sahara hit 44-year-old Dave Thomas Cox. Cox was thrown across the median and into the westbound lanes. Cox was transported to University Medical Center with critical injuries. The driver, Elliot Ryan Perkins, 28, was not injured.
