Driver suspected of DUI in fatal hit-and-run on Friday night

Mitchel was arrested after showing signs of impairment from alcohol, the release said, and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. The driver of the Jeep, 35-year-old Peter Mitchel of Las Vegas, and his passenger returned to the scene about an hour later. The pedestrian will be identified by the Clark County coroner's office. A man was charged with driving under the influence Friday night after leaving the scene of an accident in which a pedestrian died, Las Vegas police said. The pedestrian was crossing Spring Mountain outside of a marked crosswalk, the release said.

Ralph Overton, 69-year-old resident of Las Vegas, was struck by a 2008 Jeep Liberty while he was crossing Spring Mountain Road about 6:30 p.m., police said.
