Police: Impaired driver struck father, child in east Valley
According to Metro's Sgt. Richard Strader, a man and his 18-month-old daughter, who was in a stroller, were crossing a roadway outside of a marked crosswalk when they were struck by a car. Strader said the driver involved had been swerving around other vehicles prior to the collision.

Witnesses at the scene said that Canas, who stayed at the scene of the crash and called police, appeared inebriated at the time of his arrest.
