The pilot killed in a helicopter crash at Reno Stead Airport was identified Monday as a 46-year-old man, Washoe County officials said.
The pilot killed in a helicopter crash at Reno Stead Airport was identified Monday as a 46-year-old man, Washoe County officials said. Michael Seeliger, 46, was flying the small helicopter that crashed Sunday afternoon, officials said. Seeliger, whose city of residence was not immediately known, was the only person on board the helicopter. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The privately owned single-seat, home-built aircraft known as a helicycle crashed at 12:10 p.m., officials have said. The crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board. The crash site was on desert-type land away from the runway but on airport property.
