Small plane crashes in neighborhood, injuring pilot

City officials say the 56-year-old pilot was alert and talking after rescuers removed him from the wreckage. He was taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries and was in stable condition.

A small plane’s pilot was “alert and talking” after his craft crashed on a street in New Jersey, smashing into a parked car and striking electric lines Sunday morning.

NTSB: Pilot reported losing power shortly before plane crash in Bayonne

The 56-year-old pilot, George Pettway, was alone in the Piper PA-28R-200 when the crash occurred Feb. 19 in a Bayonne neighborhood. Pettway suffered a broken left forearm, several broken ribs and numerous contusions and abrasions and remained hospitalized Wednesday.
