Authorities received a report of two people thrown from a center console fishing boat about 2:24 a.m. in the marina, according to Jonathan Lally, a spokesman for the Coast Guard.

Christopher W. Heitman, 45, of Cape May, was operating a 17-foot boat about 2:20 a.m. when he struck the pipe, which had broken free from its mooring and entered the harbor, according to Trooper II Charles Marchan.
