Flanders man charged with DWI after Route 4 wreck that injured mother, 9-year-old daughter

Robert Ciccone, 38, of Flanders, was intoxicated behind the wheel of a black Infinity when witnesses mentioned the car struck a sport utility vehicle quite a few occasions and fled on Route 4 westbound, close to Jones Road, about 9:15 p.m. Saturday.

Five people, including Ciccone, were hurt, but none of the injuries “were reported as life-threatening,” Mullin said.
The SUV driver, a 40-year-old Bronx, N.Y. woman, and her 9-year-old daughter were treated at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. The Infinity soon lost control and slammed into a utility pole near Decatur Avenue, according to police. That crash downed the pole and live power lines on top of a Honda Civic, injuring the 70-year-old man driving and his 64-year-old wife. County police officers smelled alcohol on Ciccone’s breath and he appeared to be impaired. "Officers also located suspected marijuana and open bottles of rum and vodka inside his vehicle,” Mullin added. Ciccone was treated at Hackensack University Medical Center before he was booked at the Bergen County Jail on charges of four counts of assault by auto, marijuana possession and being under the influence of marijuana.
