Local pilot dies in plane crash in Catron County
A local pilot is dead and two passengers are in the hospital after a small plane crash in Catron County. New Mexico State Police say the aircraft went down in Sheep Basin, south of Reserve around 11 a.m. on Friday.
The pilot, Linda Pecotte from Silver City, was killed. The conditions of the two passengers are unknown. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are on their way to investigate the crash.

On October 15, 2021, about 0959 mountain daylight time, a Cessna 175 airplane, N7584M was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Reserve, New Mexico. The pilot sustained fatal injuries and two passengers sustained serious injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight.

Former Grant County educator, longtime Realtor and Republican Party leader Linda Pecotte was killed Friday morning when a plane she was piloting crashed south of Reserve.According to a Friday evening release from the Catron County Sheriff’s Department, the crash was reported to Catron County Dispatch around 10:35 Friday morning.
