“My mind was blown, I thought maybe he wasn’t paying attention, but then I heard it was a drunk driver, and I couldn’t believe it,” Torres’ roommate said. “She made the wrong choice, and she should suffer the consequences.”

21-year-old hit-and-run victim dies
The 21-year-old victim of a recent hit-and-run crash has died after being on life support for more than a week.
Daniel Torres, 21, was walking near Coors Street and Avalon NW on Saturday evening when he was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. Torres was transported to UNM Hospital where he is in critical condition. A witness called police and hours later Jessica Lucero, 23, was arrested. Court documents showed authorities said that Lucero appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and has been charged with DWI and vehicular homicide/great bodily injury.
