During the initial investigation, officers learned that a GMC Envoy, driven by 25-year-old Jay Drake Murrey, of Nottingham, New Hampshire, was traveling south on U.S. 54 when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Kenworth semi-truck, driven by 50-year-old man.
State Police Investigate a Fatal Crash on U.S. 54 near Carrizozo, NM
Mr. Murrey suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator. The fifty-year-old male driver of the Kenworth was transported to an area hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.
