Early stages of investigation indicate a Hyundai sedan was traveling southbound on I-25 near mile marker 6 when the vehicle came to a stop while in the left lane of travel. A Ford sedan, also traveling southbound in the left lane, collided into the Hyundai, causing the fuel tank of the Hyundai to rupture and catch fire.

The Hyundai driver, 28-year-old Antoinette Harwood, and 19-year-old Corine Banda were pronounced dead at the scene.
Harwood's children, 2-year-old Adrian Banda and 1-month-old Layahna Banda, died at a hospital.
