University police located and arrested four individuals within a couple of minutes, according to an emailed statement from NMSU Police Chief Stephen Lopez. A fifth individual may still be outstanding, he said.

The incident prompted university officials to place DACC on lockdown for about an hour, beginning shortly after 9 a.m., said Eddie Binder, the DACC spokesman. Police said the crash was reported around 9:12 a.m.
