New Mexico authorities say two people died after being ejected from a car that struck a road sign, entered a highway median and overturned several times while fleeing from U.S. Border Patrol agents.

According to Ramiro Cordero, a spokesman with the Border Patrol, agents working near Deming saw four people getting into the van and agents tried to stop the vehicle. The driver refused and drove off, which led to the pursuit.
