On May 23, 2022, at around 2:00 a.m., the New Mexico State Police responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Westbound US 70, near Roosevelt Road 3, north of Portales, NM.

According to a news release from the New Mexico State Police Septimus Goyahkla Tarango, 22, was westbound on U.S. 70 near Roosevelt Road 3 around 2 a.m. Monday. Tarango was driving a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck when, for unknown reasons, the truck left the highway, rolled and ejected Tarango.
