Officer sustains minor injuries in hit-and-run crash
The officer was on patrol at 6:55 p.m., traveling south on North Main Street, when his patrol vehicle was struck by a westbound SUV that ran a stop sign on Seventh Street, according to Todd Wildermuth, RPD public information officer.

The crash happened Tuesday at about 7 p.m. in the downtown area when a Chevy Tahoe heading west on 7th Street collided with a patrol vehicle as it was traveling south on Main Street.
Man charged in accident involving police officer
He has been charged with six petty misdemeanors and two misdemeanors. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident that disabled a police vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident that caused injuries to the police officer that are not considered to be great bodily harm, the first misdemeanor. He also is accused of failure to give information or render aid, the second misdemeanor, and failure to give immediate notice of an accident. Other petty misdemeanor charges are no driver’s license, stop or yield at intersection, reckless driving and evidence of registration.
