George T. Kautz Jr., 66, killed in car accident on Route 7 on May 7.

The Rensselaer County Sheriff's Department has identified the person killed in a car crash Wednesday on Route 7, near Cahil's Garage.

Police said the driver was George T. Kautz Jr., 66, of Pittstown.

The Sheriff's Department said a second vehicle was involved in the collision, but did not identify that driver. That person reported no injuries.

The crash was reported at 3 p.m. Police said the investigation is not yet complete and there may be charges filed in connection with it.

The sheriff's department was assisted by Bennington Police, and the New York State Police Troop G Crash Reconstruction Unit. The Hoosick Fire Department and Hoosick Falls Fire Department were also on scene.
