Victims identified in Saratoga County plane crash

Pilot Ciprian M. Ivascu, 33, of Newburgh, NY struck the top of a tree on Brownville Road southwest of the Heber Airpark where it had taken off, causing the plane to crash.
At 5:41 pm Saturday, the Saratoga Springs Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene at Brownville Road in the town of Nortthumberland where a Cessna 180 plane had crashed, killing two men on board. TWC teeted this frightening look at the wreckage. Pilot Ciprian M. Ivascu, 33, of Newburgh, NY struck the top of a tree on Brownville Road southwest of the Heber Airpark where it had taken off, causing the plane to crash. Mr. Ivascu and his passenger, Jon C. Stomski, 61, of Milton, NY were pronounced dead on the scene by Saratoga County Coroner Susan Hayes-Masa. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Gansevoort Fire Department, Wilton Fire Department, South Glens Falls Fire Department, Wilton EMS, Moreau EMS, Lifenet, and theFederal Aviation Administration (FAA). The crash is currently under investigation by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
