Motorcycle Crash Inside Parking Garage Claims Life of 19-year-old Galway Man
A standout player on the school's basketball team, Mattice graduated from Galway just last year. On social media, a flood of tweets and posts mourned the loss of a young man who entered the Army National Guard earlier this spring. Less than two months ago, Mattice posted a photo of his new bike on his own Twitter account.
Michael Mattice was riding his motorcycle at the Woodlawn Ave. parking garage when for as of yet unknown reasons he struck a parked car, then the wall of the garage. Emergency crews arrived to find Mattice severely injured, and he died at the scene. The accident is still under investigation.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
