John B. Starkey, 81, seriously injured, after his vehicle collides with another vehicle, driven by S.A. Martinez, 37, at an intersection on Eagle Street in Amherst.

Amherst Police say a two-vehicle crash on Eagle and Evans Streets sent an 81-year-old man to the hospital.

Police say 37-year-old S.A. Martinez was driving south on Evans Street around 1:17 p.m. Sunday. Martinez’s vehicle reportedly hit the driver’s side door of 81-year-old John B. Starkey’s car, as he was traveling east on Eagle Street. Both drivers are from Amherst.

Starkey was extracated from the vehicle and taken to Erie County Medical Center. He suffered broken ribs and internal injuries, and went into surgery when he arrived at the hospital.
