Pedestrian Killed in Amityville Crash

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Amityville this morning.

No criminality is suspected, police said. The investigation is continuing, and the Acura SUV was impounded for a safety check.

Yeimy Pichardo-Cruz, 31, was turning left out of a parking lot onto eastbound Oak Street at about 9:30 a.m. when she accidentally struck a pedestrian that was crossing the roadway. That pedestrian, identified as 52-year-old Lora Rohner, was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to the hospital. Pichardo-Cruz was uninjured, and the vehicle involved was taken in for a safety check.
