A Mastic Beach man died in an industrial accident Tuesday evening after he hit his head and fell off a forklift in Center Moriches, Suffolk police said.

At about 6:10 p.m., 37-year-old Santos Ortiz was operating a forklift at Kurt Weiss Greenhouses which is located on Montauk Highway, when he hit his head against a metal pole and was knocked off of the machine. He was pronounced dead shortly after he was brought to the hospital.
