Head-on fatal accident caused by driver falling asleep, police say

The fatal head-on crash on Route 17K in the area of Winding Hills in the Town of Montgomery last week was caused by a driver who fell asleep at the wheel, Montgomery Town Police reported on Monday.

Police say it was around 4 p.m. when Eileen Habesland, 44, from Buffalo, collided with another driver on Route 17K in Montgomery near Winding Hills. Photos from the scene show a silver car completely destroyed and an overturned yellow car torn in half.
