Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined the male pedestrian was attempting to cross the bridge, east to west, in the vicinity of a designated parking area, when he was struck by a 2018 Honda CRV operated by a 57-year-old male.

Police said that the 57-year-old reckless driver was heading north on North Channel Bridge when he struck a 32-year-old pedestrian who was crossing the span at a parking area near Cross Bay Boulevard at about 2:30 am.
