Police officer in serious condition in crash between two motorcycles on Bryant Pond Road in Putnam Valley, New York
Connecticut police officer in critical condition after Putnam crash
At around 1:50 p.m. a group of police motorcycles from multiple agencies in a training run were traveling in the southbound lanes at the interchange with Bryant Pond Road, according to Public Information Officer Trooper Melissa McMorris. As the convoy made its way down the southbound lanes, another vehicle began to merge from Bryant Pond Road onto the Taconic. As the vehicle attempted to merge, several of the motorcycles were forced to take evasive action, and two of the cycles struck each other. One of the operators, an officer from the West Haven Police Department was thrown from his bike and suffered serious injuries. He was transported by Medevac to Westchester Medical Center.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
