Suffolk County police said Fred Mahnken was crossing William Floyd Parkway when he was struck by a northbound Oldsmobile near Lawrence Road at 11:20 a.m. The victim was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver was neither injured nor charged.
