Troopers say one of the vehicles was heading north on State Route 36 when an uninvolved southbound vehicle made a left turn and a pickup truck directly behind it was struck by a third vehicle from behind.

At 6:02 p.m. New York State Police responded to State Route 36 near Cleveland Road for the report of a multi-vehicle crash.

The driver of the northbound vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene while a young child who was a passenger was transported to Strong Hospital with minor injuries, State Police said.
