At approximately 10:15 p.m., a Cortland County Sheriff’s Deputy observed an SUV driving through a red light at the intersection of State Route 281 and West Main St. in the town of Cortlandville, according to State Police.

An SUV reportedly ran a red light and kept going, despite the intervention of a Cortland County Sheriff’s deputy. Both vehicles crashed and 16-year-old Salena Wallner, who was riding in the back of the SUV, was killed.
