The accident occurred at approximately 8:05pm on Saturday, March 7, 2015 and involved three teenage boys on two snowmobiles on the Penn Mountain Snowmobile Trail near the intersection of East Floyd Road and Camroden Road in Oneida County. Nicholas Martin of Floyd was operating a black 1997 Arctic Cat with passenger Austin Parker of Holland Patent when apparently the snowmobile veered off the north shoulder and struck a tree. Both Martin and Parker were ejected from the snowmobile. The second snowmobile, a gray 2007 Ski-Doo operated by13-year-old Caleb Martin, also of Floyd, was close behind. In an attempt to avoid the collision, he struck the trees as well. All three teens were brough to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where Nicholas Martin later succumbed to his injuries, which included severe head trauma.  Caleb Martin had injuries to his wrist, and Austin Parker was treated for head pain.
