Surviving teen in fatal I-81 crash that killed 2 Cortland students is in fair condition

Police have not said whether the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, or what caused the driver to lose control of her vehicle.

Police identify 2 Cortland teens killed in I-81 crash

Both girls were seniors at Cortland Junior Senior High School and set to graduate next month, Cortland School District Superintendent Michael Hoose said.

Andrea F. Czimmer, 17, was driving a car on I-81 when the vehicle left the roadway and flipped several times in the grassy median on Friday evening. Czimmer suffered severe head and neck trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. Backseat passenger, Alexis R. Porter, 17, was airlifted her to Upstate University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Front seat passenger Michael Conlon, 18, of Cortland is in fair condition at Upstate University Hospital as of Sunday afternoon.
