Jefferson 24-year-old resident dies in fatal Harley accident in Vernon

Michael Dougherty Jr., 24-years-old, of Jefferson was found unconscious and unresponsive, Vernon Township Police Captain Stephen Moran said in an email statement released Monday afternoon. Dougherty Jr. was transported to St. Anthony's Hospital, in Warwick, N.Y., where he succumbed to his injuries, the statement continued.
At 9:42 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, police were dispatched to a single vehicle motorcycle accident on Canistear Road in the Highland Lakes section Vernon Township south of Lookover Lane, authorities said. Michael Dougherty Jr., 24-years-old, of Jefferson was found unconscious and unresponsive, Vernon Township Police Captain Stephen Moran said in an email statement released Monday afternoon. Dougherty Jr. was transported to St. Anthony's Hospital, in Warwick, N.Y., where he succumbed to his injuries, the statement continued. The accident investigation indicated that Dougherty Jr. was traveling south when he lost control of his 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle and left the roadway striking a utility pole. Patrolmen Jason Mangano, Stephen Rovetto, and James Higgins were the investigating officers.
