Marco Antoniao Perez Cesped, 42, injured, one other man dies at hospital from injuries, after SUV crashes into car broadside at high speed in Charlotte.
Man dies after ejected from car, badly burned in wreck.
A man was killed in a southwest Charlotte wreck after he was ejected from his car and badly burned.
The wreck happened in the 5700 block of West Boulevard near Yorkmont Road at 2:42 p.m. Monday afternoon, according to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Major Crash Investigation Unit.
Investigators say a man lost control of his car, causing him to run off the road and slide sideways into an SUV. The SUV "t-boned" the car, causing the man to be ejected.
The force of the impact, police say, ruptured the "t-boned" car's gas tank. The leaking gas caught fire near the ejected driver, leaving him severely burned, police say.
He was flown to the Chapel Hill Burn Center in Chapel Hill, NC where he died a short time later. His identity has not yet been released.
The driver of the SUV, 42-year-old Marco Antoniao Perez Cesped, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Main with minor injuries.
Speed appears to be the cause of the crash, according to police.
