Jefferson Davis James killed by hit-and-run driver when car strikes moped on South Boulevard and New Bern Station Court in Charlotte, North Carolina

Jefferson Davis James was riding a moped southbound on South Boulevard when a northbound black 2005 Nissan Murano turned left onto New Bern Station Court in front of the moped. The moped collided with the rear passenger door area of the Nissan, and the car driver fled on New Bern Station Court then went south on South Boulevard. James died at Carolinas Medical Center shortly thereafter. Police are asking for public's help to locate the driver. The Nissan has a Texas license plate number DMP8296. The car has chrome door handles and rear tinted windows and should also have damage around the rear passenger door area.
