18-year-old motorcyclist killed in south Charlotte crash

An 18-year-old is dead following a motorcycle crash in south Charlotte Saturday morning. The motorcycle continued and slid on its side until striking the raised asphalt break in the road where fresh asphalt was paved. Officials say the motorcycle left 89 feet of braking tire marks before running through the construction cones. The crash happened around 4:13 a.m. in the 13200 block of Johnston Road when James Sullivan drove his motorcycle southeast on the off ramp from Interstate 485 into a construction zone. Police say alcohol was a factor in the crash.
