Man charged in deadly Ballantyne crash

A man is facing charges in a deadly four-vehicle crash that happened last week in Charlotte's Ballantyne area. The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. That vehicle continued traveling and struck two other vehicles that were stopped at a red light. Police say John Kalna Jr. was taken to Carolinas Medical Center after the crash, where he later died. Witnesses say Grabowsky ran a red light and struck a vehicle, which continued traveling west onto the grass, through a group of shrubs and fence, and into a drainage ditch.
