Tampa Bay Bucs player reportedly lost fingers in fireworks accident

Tampa Bay Buccaneer cornerback C.J. Wilson suffered a severe hand injury on the Fourth of July. The Lincoln Times-News reports that the former Lincolnton High football player lost two fingers on Saturday in an Independence Day fireworks accident. Sources close to the family told the Times-News that the accident happened when Wilson was at home in Lincolnton with family and friends.

“We are aware that C.J. was involved in an accident that occurred over the July 4th holiday. It is our understanding that the injury occurred to one of his hands and our primary concern at this moment is for his long-term health. We have been in contact with C.J. and are continuing to monitor the situation,” Tampa Bay said in a statement released Wednesday afternoon.
