Archer was killed on Wednesday night after he was struck by a car. Police later charged that driver with drunk driving.
The incident happened on the 200 block of Williamson Road in Mooresville, right in front of the entrance to the Harris Teeter grocery store. Investigators have not said exactly what may have led to the crash, but confirmed Archer, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene.
