Sixteen-year-old Justys Miller was coming from South Iredell High School when he saw the flames and smoke coming from the vehicles, he said. He and two other men pulled one of the men out of their vehicle and brought him to the side of the road.

A 1992 Toyota pickup driven by Gregory Alexander Story, of China Grove, was traveling west on Ostwalt Amity Road about 3:40 p.m. He veered left of center and struck an eastbound 1991 Ford pickup driven by Trenton Edward Smith, of Cleveland, according to a crash report by the N.C. Highway Patrol.
