Troopers say the driver of the pickup truck, Byron Hyde, 27, of Thomasville, tried passing another vehicle and started traveling north in the southbound lane. Hyde then crashed head-on into the motorcycle, which was being driven by Austin Gaither, 17, of Lexington.
