School bus involved in Mount Airy crash; 3 hurt

A school bus accident was reported Friday afternoon in Mount Airy.

Driver’s name released in bus crash

Johnny Hiatt, 50, of Patton Way in Mount Airy, was driving a Mitsubishi Mirage when the vehicle allegedly crossed the center line of a four-lane roadway, crashing into a Mount Airy City Schools bus shortly after 3 p.m. Friday, according to Mount Airy Police Officer Ryan Bennett. 
A car collided with a bus in the 300 block of Renfro Street. The driver of the car was seriously injured, and two children aboard the bus suffered minor injuries. All three were hospitalized. Check back for updates.
