3 injured in high-speed crash near downtown High Point.
Three passengers involved in a high-speed collision Thursday evening were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
According to police, the driver of a Ford was driving west on E. Green Drive at a high rate of speed when it collided with an SUV at the intersection of Main Street.
Upon impact, the Ford rotated counter clockwise and slammed backwards into a metal street light pole. Police estimate the car was going between 50 and 60 mph when it struck the SUV.
The driver of the vehicle, Taqwesha Antoinette Jones, 22, was rushed to Forsyth Memorial Hospital. Mercedes Nicole Washington, 21, was taken to High Point Regional. The third passenger, 15, was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.
Police didn’t identify the 15-year-old because the passenger is a minor.
Charges are pending at this time, police say.
