North Carolina teacher hit by private bus at school, killed

Local media outlets report that 25-year-old Brandon Kincaid was hit by the private bus from the day care around 8 a.m. GOLDSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Police say a second-grade teacher in North Carolina has died after he was struck in his school's parking lot by a bus from a day care center. Kincaid was a teacher at Meadow Lane Elementary School, and the Goldsboro City Schools say he was in his second year of teaching. School system spokesman Ken Derksen says Kincaid had a physical disability that required him to use a wheelchair, but he couldn't confirm whether Kincaid was in the wheelchair when the bus struck him. Just after 8 a.m., police said 25-year-old Brandon Kincaid was hit by a private bus from the Small World day care center in the school parking lot on E. Ash Street. Kincaid was rushed to Wayne Memorial Hospital where he later died.

A school system spokesman says students on the daycare bus had already gotten into the school when the accident happened. Other students coming to school were directed away from the scene. The school system says Kincaid was in his second year of teaching at Meadow Lane and that his wife is expecting their first child.

Bus driver won't face charges in death of Goldsboro teacher

Brandon Kincaid, 28, died at Wayne Memorial Hospital on Feb. 9 after being hit by a private bus driven by Ray Batts, 56, an employee of Small World Daycare Center. Goldsboro police said Wednesday that the investigation of the incident is complete.
