2 children killed as driver crashes, overturns in downtown Goldsboro: officials

Around 2:30 a.m., Goldsboro officers reported seeing a vehicle speeding on Center Street. Officers attempted to catch up with the vehicle but it sped off and out of sight of the officers, police said.

Soon after, police said they found the car had crashed on the railroad tracks behind the Holly Street Warehouse at East Holly Street and North Center Street.

One occupant was found pinned inside the overturned vehicle. Goldsboro Fire Department and Wayne County EMS units responded to free the occupant, who was transported to Wayne UNC Healthcare and then transferred to ECU Health Medical Center (Vidant) in Greenville with life threatening injuries.
