A Holly Springs High School student has been charged in a collision that critically injured a jogger Monday morning. Carlos Solis-Reyes, 18, of Apex, ran a red light, and had been charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk, failure to yield causing serious bodily injury, carless and reckless driving, and operating a vehicle with a permit while not being accompanied by a licensed driver. The crash occurred at the intersection of Holly Springs Road and Linksland Drive about 6:30 a.m. Monday. Derek Davis, 37, was crossing the road in the crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle driven by Solis-Reyes. Davis was listed in critical condition Tuesday.
