New Salem man dies in crash near Mandan
A 2006 Ford F-150 pickup and a 1970 Chevrolet pickup were both westbound on Old Highway 10 about 4:27 p.m. when the Ford entered the eastbound lane and swerved back into the westbound lane, striking the rear of the Chevrolet. The Chevrolet was then pushed into a ravine on the north side of the road.
The driver of the Chevrolet died at the scene.

Officials say 83-year-old Robert Slavick was driving a 1970 Chevrolet pickup when a 2006 Ford F-150 driven by 35-year-old Ryan Riveland of Mandan entered the eastbound lane and swerved back into the westbound lane, striking the rear of the Chevrolet.
Charges pending in fatal crash near Mandan
The patrol said charges against Riveland are pending a review by the Morton County State’s Attorney’s Office.
