18-year-old woman injured, taken to hospital, after she is struck by a car, allegedly driven by Marquita Afzal, 42, who fled the scene, while crossing Woodland Ave. at East 55th Street in Cleveland.

Police say an arrest has been made in connection with a Tuesday night hit-and-run that sent an 18-year-old woman to the hospital.

Marquita Afzal, 42, was taken into custody about 9:30 p.m. after a woman crossing Woodland Avenue at East 55th Street was struck by a passing Cadillac CTS, according to officials.

The Cadillac fled, but police caught up with the car near Woodland Avenue and East 40th Street. Afzal was at the wheel, police said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with head and face injuries, police said.
