An early morning crash on I-77 southbound caused by a wrong-way driver claimed a life and closed a large section of the Interstate for hours Wednesday.

Police said a driver entered the freeway, possibly from Fleet Avenue, going the wrong way and collided with another vehicle.
Jack W. Dixon, age 48 and of Eastlake was driving the car that was struck and was pronounced dead on the scene, Cleveland Police said.
The suspected driver of the wrong-way car was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. He will be charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault, and alcohol is believed to be a factor, police said. Drunken driving charges may be issued pending test results.
Dixon's car struck another vehicle, whose driver was treated for minor injuries.
No other names have been released at this time.
