9 injured after malfunction during fireworks show at Crocker Park in Westlake, Ohio

State fire marshal investigating Westlake fireworks accident

Westlake fire officials say one of the fireworks boxes overturned, firing into the crowd minutes after the show began around 10 p.m.

Crocker Park officials posted the following information around 10:50 p.m. on their Facebook page: "Event update: The fireworks incident is under investigation. We will share more details as soon as they become available."

Company that set off fireworks in Crocker Park mishap is widely used in Northeast Ohio

Officials from numerous Northeast Ohio communities have no plans to drop a popular Hudson-based firework company after a mishap Sunday that injured 11 people during a Fourth of July celebration in Crocker Park. City officials in several communities  — including Westlake, Strongsville, North Ridgeville, Medina, Independence, Bay Village and Bratenahl — said they use American Fireworks and most said they've never had an issue with the company.
